Typical Lombard Street Budget Motel Scene...

1599 Lombard Street $150/night for suites

C. writes, "For $119 a night, the hotel was great. Very basic accommodations, a very helpful front desk staff. The hotel is located right on Lombard Street which is also 101, the main highway in and out of the city. They have FREE parking and although it is limited they guarantee you a spot. You can catch 2 main cable car lines within one to two blocks of the hotel. We stayed in a room on the inside of the hotel so we were off of noisy Lombard... there was no view, but it was quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel to the traveler that is more interested in seeing the sights and not lounging in the hotel."

E.H. writes, "The Buena Vista is an excellent choice for visitors who want to be in walking proximity to Fisherman's Wharf, the crooked street, cable cars, and many excellent restaurants. The Golden Gate Bridge is only a 5 minute bus ride away. The hotel is very clean with ample free parking. If you do have a car I suggest that you leave it in the underground parking lot and do your sight seeing by foot or take advantage of the cheap transit (but not during the congested rush-hour- they pack you in like sardines). The hotel's management is very helpful and polite and suites come with a microwave and refrigerator. The best rooms face the rear garden which has a lemon tree. We had a quiet, restful sleep each night and plan to return to the Buena Vista."

R.H. writes, "Buena Vista was terrific. We paid $100 per night(before those rip-off 17% taxes) with parking included. The rooms were very clean. We got two queens, cable t.v., a nice sized room, along with a coffee maker and condiments. The layout of the hotel was very safe with a main security door into the building, then your room's door."

Brian writes, "We asked for an inside room; my sister and hubby got one but ours was on the side street. We paid $109 per night. Lombard was noisy starting atabout 6 a.m. but OK at night. The hotel desk staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well maintained and our room at least was a good size. There are no amenities other than coffee makers. It is handy for breakfasts, there's a good place a block up Lombard, and there are several corner stores. If you can walk it is notfar to Fisherman's Wharf and only a few blocks (uphill) to the Hyde Stcable car. Also only a couple of blocks to Fort Mason and then down to the bay and the Maritime Museum. We walked to Green's, a renowned vegetarianrestaurant in Fort Mason (if you take a short cut through the park watch outfor the sprinklers on your way home!). It is a safe neighbourhood to walk in at night."
