Marina Inn - San Francisco

Valerie writes, "What a find! The room included a kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, and coffeepot - AND each morning we received a fresh packets of coffee, both caffeinated and decaffeinated. The room was adorable, and the outside was just gorgeous with all the flowers in bloom. The neighborhood was an excellent place to just walk around, with restaurants, coffee-shops, and bookstores. Should we ever be lucky enough to return, we will definitely stay there again."

Sara raves, "This motel looks nice and is located conveniently (next to the Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street and Fisherman's Wharf), in a quiet and safe area (as you said about the Marina District). People at the reception were kind and helpful. They also provided us with information on San Francisco, made our reservation for the airport shuttle ($11 per person), and kept our luggage while we were touring the city. We spent $85 + taxes (breakfast included) for a small-queen bed (yet it was quite large and comfortable!) room with private bath. The room was large (with six windows!), clean and comfortable, with English country pine furniture and floral wallpaper. It was also equipped with telephone and TV. All hotel rooms are non-smoking. The complimentary continental breakfast also included very good English tea, juice, coffee, muffins, bagels, etc. In our opinion, it was really the best value for our money! We greatly enjoyed our brief stay and, should we ever return to San Francisco, we will stay at the Marina Inn again."

Ashley Nichols writes, "We made reservations at the Marina Inn March 12th for a wedding we were to attend Memorial Day weekend at Fort Mason. It was close, and had received good reviews. However, upon our arrival we were told that there was no room for us even though we had reservations & a confirmation number and moved us the Best Inn on Van Ness. We were further told by the receptionist that this happens in the hotel business all the time (not true, you don't get downgraded!) the manager could not be reached until the next morning and she could not do anything about it. Needless to say we were quite angry at the situation. We drove to the Best Inn which turned out to be a shabby looking motel owned by the same owner as the Marina Inn. Sounds like a bait."
