Jeff writes, "I stayed 8 days at the Marina Motel on Lombard St. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. I still think this place is the best deal in the Bay Area when you consider the kitchen and parking included. The location is extremely convenient and easy to find for the first- time visitor, although I've been to San Francisco so many times I no longer need road maps. Having all the shopping conveniences on Chestnut St, just one block away is extremely convenient. And since I am an avid cyclist I appreciate being close to the Bay and all the bike routes that take you through Fort Mason and other areas on the waterfront, all the way around the Peninsula. Best rarely noticed feature of staying at the Marina Motel? If your a YMCA member there is a Y close by in the Presidio. Pool and all facilities about a 10 minute walk away."

Bob and Jan write in August 2000, "The Marina Motel is one of the best bargains we've ever found. Our courtyard room was clean, quiet and complete with kitchen and heat which we used a couple of mornings. We found the location to be ideal as we could walk to so many nearby areas such as Chestnut Street. We had City Passes and no car, so we used the public transportation that was just a couple of blocks away. We were particularly impressed with the patience, knowledge and concern of the public transit operators. We've already told all who will listen how great our stay was and will return again."

O.C. writes, "The Marina Motel on Lombard is located in a very nice Spanish building built in 1939. My room was clean, but a bit small. Some rooms include a kitchen and are slightly larger. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marina. There are many good restaurants nearby. The rooms include indoor parking. I thought it had a big bang for the buck."

J.M. concurs, "I can't say enough nice things about the Marina Motel. Proximity to everything is great. Loved shopping and all the stores on Chestnut Street (1 block away) And of course the Castro is just a short drive up Divisadero Street. The rooms were very clean, and included a working cable TV. I recommend a courtyard room, as it is noisy on Lombard. I had a kitchenette which does save a traveler lots of money on breakfasts and other meals where you don't want to eat out. Yes the room is small, but the covered parking makes up for that. If you drive a very large vehicle you may find the garages a tight fit. They do charge for time used on local phone calls and a high amount for long distance calls. I would not recommend plugging in a laptop computer and going online there. I liked the staff and the atmosphere of the Marina Motel and will return in the future."

L.L. writes, "I would like to highly recommend the Marina Motel. The room was very clean and comfortable with two double beds and an in-room refrigerator. Our room was a courtyard room so the noise from busy Lombard Street did not bother us at all. The motel, built in 1939 has a wonderful charm to it with bright and airy rooms, lovely pink exterior featuring murals and lots of flowering plants. Individual garages are also available at no extra charge directly below the rooms. It is convenient to the Golden Gate Bridge, Marina and great shopping and restaurants on Chestnut Street, just a block away. The owner's dog, Calvin, comes to work daily and is very friendly and adds to the wonderful charm and friendly, helpful staff of the Marina Motel. Thanks to your hotel review we found a wonderful place to stay while in beautiful San Francisco, and look forward to returning to the Marina Motel."

K.R. writes, "Our courtyard room at The Marina Motel on Lombard was quaint, very clean and included a refrigerator. Outside there were flowering potted plants everwhere. The office staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations when asked. Convenient to eateries (reasonable and good), drug store and gas station. Close to MUNI bus station which we used extensively the four days while we parked our car in the free-garage. We stayed at national chain hotels at our other stops and they never compared to the ambiance and friendliness of the Marina Motel. We highly recommend and will return..."
