Pier 39 San Francisco

Pier 39's Carousel for Children in San Francisco

Pier 39 offers a number of non-shopping attractions for the San Francisco visitor. My family's favorite was the carousel with vintage style horses for children to ride on. The cost of the carousel is about $3/person (2005). The musical carousel ride was a treat for our three year-old son who loved the music and movement. I personally rode on the more active horse that could be rocked back and forth.

Bungee jumping is clearly a key part of any San Francisco visitors time at Fisherman's Wharf. And what better bungee jumping can be done other than waterfront bungee jumping -- with a view. This young many was spinning through the air to the delight of hundreds of spectators on a summer weekend.

Fisherman's Wharf Hotels - What do our Readers Think?

The show pictured here of yo-yo tricks is very typical of the shows at Pier 39. This gentleman was effectively pitching an infomercial style of entertainment - where the entertainment was truly a more product purchase opportunity. Although many were entertained by his antics (note the subtle beverage advertising) - the "show" was not quite what we might seek out. That said - he certainly attracted a crowd.
