There are numerous choices for a romantic stay around Sonoma's wine country area and surrounding cities. From luxury, romantic inns and personal service to national hotel chains -- you can find almost anything you need for your budget around the beautiful Sonoma vineyards near San Francisco.

Located in the historic town of Sonoma, just four blocks from the Plaza, MacArthur Place is in the midst of wineries, fine dining, shops, and unique galleries. Once a prestigious address for a 300 hundred-acre vineyard and working ranch with prized horses and cattle, the lush 19th century estate has been transformed into a 35 room Hotel, Spa and Conference Center. The beautiful grounds feature a swimming pool and whirlpool to compliment the Spa at MacArthur Place, which provides the latest in massage and facial treatments.

Another excellent choice at lower cost is Courtyard Sonoma / Novato which has all of the hallmarks of Marriott service and value - often at prices dramatically below B&B's in the area.

With over 100 species of trees and colorful, unusual plantings interspersed with meandering paths, the Inn's gardens are a wonderful place to stroll, or relax with a glass of wine or a good book. The orchard has twelve different kinds of fruit trees, and when in season, you'll find the fruit in pies and other special desserts in MacArthur Place's bistro, SADDLES. Saddles is a great steakhouse featuring 100% USDA prime beef, ribs, chicken, pasta and delicious desserts. It is located in a magnificently restored 1865 barn on the grounds, and has a fun Western atmosphere.

The Historic Sonoma Plaza, the largest town square of its kind in California, is just a short five- block walk from MacArthur Place. Taking a stroll around the Plaza is like stepping into California history; passing the Mission San Francisco de Solano – the last and northernmost of the California Missions, the Mexican Barracks, and the Depot Museum. Several other historic structures on the Plaza now house fantastic restaurants, boutiques, bookstores, and wine shops. Many visitors spend most of their stay in Sonoma just walking the Plaza!
