Waterfront Restaurant

San Francisco Waterfront Restaurant Review

San Francisco's waterfront restaurant opinions...

Located on Pier 7 in Fisherman’s Wharf, the Waterfront Restaurant and Café has amazing ambience but average food and service. The restaurant faces the Bay with fantastic views of the Bay Bridge and Treasure Island. You can opt to sit outside on a patio enclosed with clear windbreaks and warmed with heat lamps, or indoors – either way you will have great views. Yet the food and service (at least during peak hours) are not as high-quality as the classy atmosphere and sweeping views. The waiters are friendly but slow (I had already eaten most of my salad before they offered me pepper). The food is average – definitely not as good as you would expect from the ambience of the restaurant. The food was not badly priced considering the setting, but you can find much better food for that price in a different restaurant.

Along with the views, the best thing about the Waterfront is its classy but casual atmosphere. It is good for families, groups, couples, a casual lunch, or a romantic dinner; the ambience is elegant without being stuffy. You can either make reservations (especially if you want to get a table outside) or you can come in on the spur of the moment after a walk along the piers and still feel comfortable. Its location along the piers is amazing, and provides a nice after-lunch of after-dinner walk. Leave yourself a lot of time to eat, though, because while you will be seated quickly if you have a reservation, service is very slow.

The Waterfront is primarily a seafood restaurant, but it has several other dining options, making it nice for groups who are not all seafood fans. They have a relatively large menu, too, giving patrons a variety of choices. Some sample choices:
