Comfort Inn by the Bay
San Francisco Hotel Review
2275 Van Ness @ Lombard - RECOMMENDED.
Christine writes, "Thanks much for your site!! I took your advice and my husband spent 6 days at the Comfort Inn and loved it! Since we
bussed everywhere, it was a convenient place to stay."
Sue writes, "We found the Comfort Inn to be a gem. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The location at Lombard and
Van Ness was great. Just a bus ride or invigorating walk from the Marina and Fisherman's Wharf. Also just around the corner from Union Street. The complimentary
breakfast was enjoyable, too. The attractively decorated room was large with usual chain accommodations made our short stay very comfortable. A great price. A
great location. A great value all around."

Our editors visited the Comfort Inn by the Bay in and were very impressed. The location of this hotel is ideal, right between Pacific Heights,
the Marina District, and Fisherman's Wharf. Public transit access from Van Ness is excellent. The hotel was clean and safe with a polite staff.
Inspection of the hotel room was clean and well decorated. The hotel is basic but comfortable and has obviously been recently renovated. We
would highly recommend the value of this hotel for any visitor of San Francisco wishing to enjoy a relaxing area of the city.
Linda writes, "Late March, we stayed at Comfort Inn by the Bay at 2775 Van Ness (Lombard & 101) just up the hill from the Cannery --
about 5 blocks from the bay. For a great rate of $107 (before energy-adders were applied). I agreed that a 'back room' with 2 singles were OK for that rate, but
they upgraded us to two double bed on 7th floor with a beautiful bay & Golden Gate Bridge view! The room service was prompt and tidy. The 'deluxe breakfast'
really was great. We especially appreciated the real butter and so many choices for breakfast. Front desk personnel were so helpful time and again. Tour buses
stopped out front, and Van Ness is a bus route (as are nearby cross streets). A suggestion for dining at the near-by Lombard (tiny but great Italian) was
reasonable, clean and so tasty! And a taxi from the Pier 39 area resulted in only $5 fare. From downtown, catch a Hyde street Cable Car, get off at Lombard or
Union, and easily walk DOWN the steep hill to the hotel!
This is not closest to all the action, but with reasonable bus and cable car route skills, you can go anywhere reasonably. And the room savings
should be enough to pay for dinner for the whole family!
Union Street shopping is just up a couple blocks, too. A stroll past the coffee, dress, and misc. shops is a great early AM diversion. And
you'll appreciate more reasonable pricing after a trip to Union Square. Can't go wrong with this hotel!"
One of the hotel's best features is its convenience to the incredible Aquatic Park near San Francisco. This peaceful oasis on the edge of
Fisherman's Wharf is a great place to relax and reflect on life or your vacation. Located an easy two blocks from the Comfort Inn by the Bay, this park gives
access to Fisherman's Wharf or a smart way to avoid the Wharf crowds while seeing the Bay's beauty.
