Lombard Motor Inn
San Francisco Motel
C.G. writes, "...a very nice, inexpensive place to stay. They do a nice job of making their guests feel secure as
the parking garage is brightly lit, and after hours access to the building is by room key only. We were on the third floor on the Lombard street
side, and there was quite a bit of traffic noise on Saturday night, but it wasn't objectionable our other nights there. This was more than made
up for by the tremendous view of the Golden Gate from the balcony on our room. They were apparently doing some remodeling, as they had signs up
on each room apologizing for any noise (though we weren't there enough to hear anything). We paid a AAA rate of $74 a night, which seems quite a
bargain. I'd definitely stay there again."
D.B. writes, "My room rate for one person in a non-smoking king room was 70.00 per night. The room was spacious,
very clean, and comfortable. There is a lot of traffic on Lombard street that can be noisy, so, if you are a light sleeper, I recommend that you
request a room on the side away from the street. The manager was very friendly and helpful and will assist folks in getting around the city or
arranging a tour. The hotel has several restaurants nearby. Parking is free.
Fisherman's Wharf is in walking distance, and, if you like to walk, Union Square and the
Italian sections really aren't that far away. I was very pleased with the Motor Inn and would highly recommend it as a a cheap, comfortable,
safe place to stay. (Plus, they had coffee in the room!)"
B.Y. writes, "I want to recommend the Lombard Motor Inn. The Lombard Motor Inn was a clean and safe place to stay,
and at a reasonable price. The Assistant Manager on duty during the day was very friendly, and was able to give advice about how to get around
town, gave me maps, etc. The room was large and nice, and was also quiet, evidently being well soundproofed. It even included a coffee maker and
coffee. Being only a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf, and Union Street shops, it was also convenient. Additionally, Robert told me that this was
one of the safest areas in the city. I can really recommend this hotel as a clean safe quiet room at a great bargain."
D.A. writes, "I completely agree with B.Y.'s recommendation (above). I arrived an hour before standard check-in
time. They graciously checked me in right then so I could begin exploring the city without having to return again for check in. The room was
spacious, clean, and quiet. The motel is strategically located only one block from the bus stop. The coffeemaker was the only real amenity. The
rooms are pretty basic with no-frills, which is exactly what I wanted. The girl at the front desk was actively helpful, offering to dial the
baggage claim # from a house phone in the lobby to help me. Wake-up calls were reliable and on-time. As I came and went each day, staff was very
friendly--helpful and patient with answering my questions on getting around town via bus and providing handy map with pertinent transportation
infomation on the back. Ample free underground parking felt very safe as elevator only accessible with room key. On my last day, I checked out
in early a.m. but was allowed my to leave my rental car there for the day as I spent my last day wandering the city before an evening flight
home. <Editor: This is a great suggestion to leave car at hotel.> I would very much recommend this motel."
